I was raised by activist/teacher parents who emphasized education as your power. My first experience organizing was in Santa Ana, California, where I helped organize low-income workers. I graduated from college, and spent 10 years teaching in varying capacities. As a special needs teacher, I was responsible for creating win-win situations between myself, students, other teachers, principals, and parents. Then 2016 happened, and I felt called back to my roots. I realized I lived in a deeply unorganized area and that peoples’ voices were not being heard.
I have led March for Our Lives Victorville, co-led Lights for Liberty, as well as numerous other healthcare and impeachment marches. These gave people a voice in this area, and brought many who wanted change together. I’ve done a lot of volunteer organizing, registered voters and learned so many outreach skills and tactics. As your Victorville City Council member, I will bring to the table my knowledge and skills of working together, empowering people and community outreach.
